The Malian government on Saturday revised upwards the death toll of Friday’s terror attack in the Menaka region.

The jihadist attack on the army in the north killed at 54 people far above the 15 dead the government had announced earlier, government spokesman Yaya Sangare said.

AP said “Friday’s violence took place a month after 41 soldiers were killed and 20 others went missing during two attacks on Malian soldiers taking part in a regional counterterrorism force”.
