Almost everyone who contracted COVID-19 in Zambia has recovered

In Zambia, more than 95 percent of people who contracted COVID-19, the respiratory diseased caused by the novel coronavirus have recovered, data released by the government on Wednesday show.

Of the 1252 people who contracted the deadly bug, 1069 of them have recovered while 10 people have died.


The Zambian health ministry said as of Wednesday June 10, there were 173 active cases in the country.

The story of COVID-19 in the continent varies from country to country. South Africa for instance has recorded more than 1000 of the over 5000 deaths in the continent while others have seen different figures.

In all, more than 200,000 people have been infected in the continent.
