A Cameroonian bishop has painted a picture of total chaos in Anglophone regions, calling on all sides to dialogue.
Andrew Nkea, the Bishop of Mamfe in the South West region of Cameroon, told the BBC the country’s catholic bishops are urging the government and separatists to open talks.
Describing what he saw during a recent trip to some of the affected areas, the Bishop said entire villages were being burned down by Cameroonian soldiers while secessionists were killing law enforcement officers, burning down institutions and setting schools on fire.
Anglophone secessionists have been protesting for independence, especially after peaceful protests against perceived marginalization were met with force.
