U.S. President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. will nominate Merrick Garland to serve as his attorney general, multiple news outlets reported on Wednesday, quoting sources.
The nomination was not yet official but was expected to come in the coming hours or days.
Garland was denied a Supreme Court position in 2015 after Republicans refused to vote on his nomination.
He was nominated by President Barack Obama and Republicans claimed it was too close to an election.
But this year, the same Republicans confirmed a Supreme Court Justice just weeks to an election.
