Super star Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce after a 7 year marriage with artist Kanye West, multiple news outlets reported on Friday, including TMZ and People Magazine.

Kanye has been struggling with bipolar disorder and having emotional outbursts. Kim said that she felt “cruel to end a marriage when he isn’t doing well,” but after months of living separately, she says she feels this is the best decision for her and her kids.

Neither party is reported to be contesting the prenuptial agreement, and Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their four children, North, Chicago, Psalm, and Saint. They said that they are “committed to co-parenting” together.

Kim and Kanye tied the knot in Italy in 2014. Last July, Kanye launched a bid for president of the United States and went live on air to make controversial statements about race and politics in America.

He also delved into deeply personal details about his marriage, such as admitting to a live audience that Kim considered an abortion for their first child, North. This later prompted Kim to publicly address her fans, asking for “compassion” during a “complicated and painful” time.

After this very public breakdown, Kim made every attempt to make her marriage work. She made vacation plans with Kanye and the kids, but ended it early and they left to separate residences.

A power couple from the start, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West plan to end this marriage amicably. Through many setbacks and successes, their relationship will be forever a part of their personal journeys.
