At least 769 people died in Spain from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, its highest single-day death toll, Spain’s health ministry announced on Friday.
The latest figure brings the overall death toll to 4,858, the second highest after Italy.

The 769 death toll within 24 hours is the highest from coronavirus in Spain so far. The previous record was 738, between Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
Overall, Spain now has 64,059 confirmed cases up from 56,188 on Thursday.
The country extended its coronavirus lockdown on Thursday and described the fight against the deadly virus as a “real war”.
