Nigeria’s Vice President, Mr. Yemi Osinbajo, who was to represent President Muhammadu Buhari on a two day official visit to Lagos on Monday and Tuesday after Mr. Buhari himself cancelled the visit at the last minute, has cut short his trip and would be travelling to Lusaka tonight to represent Nigeria at the 51st Annual General Meeting of the African Development Bank, holding this week, his spokesman Laolu Akande said in a statement.
“Among other activities, Prof. Osinbajo would be participating in the AGM’S High Level Panel/African Leaders Roundtable on Energy and Climate Change, which will also feature other African leaders. He would also speak on the High Level Panel on Jobs for African Youth-Turning the Demographic Dividend into Economic Dividend,” Mr. Akande said.
The Vice President returns to Abuja on Wednesday.
Mr. Buhari cancelled his visit to Lagos reportedly because of a disturbing ear infection but allegedly over a fight with Bola Ahmed Tinubu who held a meeting with striking unions last week without clearance from the President’s office.
