Multiple victims after mass shooting in Orange, California

Multiple people have been killed in Orange in California following another mass shooting, police said.

The Orange County Register said four people were killed, including a child. It added that one of those injured was shot by police.

Orange Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Amat said officers received a call around 5.30 p.m. of shots being fired.

She said the officers responded to a business at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue in Orange, adding that multiple people were shot at, including the police officers who also returned fire. Amat said some of the people shot at were dead.

The police chief said the shooter has been apprehended and taken to a hospital. She did not say whether the shooter was alive or dead.

“Today at 5:30pm, the Orange Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at 202 W. Lincoln Ave. Officers arrived as shots were being fired and located multiple victims at the scene including fatalities. An officer involved shooting occurred,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “The situation has been stabilized and there is no threat to the public. More details to follow.”

The mass shooting comes just weeks after eight people were killed in Atlanta and others in Boulder, Colorado.
