The leader of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon, Maurice Kamto, who claims to have been cheated out of the presidency in last year’s elections, has been arrested.
Mr Kamto and several other politicians were in the city of Douala on Monday and put behind bars after they held protest marches in several towns on Saturday.
Agbor Balla is the opposition leader’s lawyer told BBC that Mr Kamto is accused of insurrection, but it was not clear whether any charges had been filed.
