As many as 182,000 Americans could die from coronavirus by August 22, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicted in a report made public on Friday.
At least 155,000 Americans have already died from COVID-19 and more than 4.5 million have contracted the deadly respiratory disease with neither vaccine nor cure at hand.
The CDC on Thursday reported 1,417 new deaths from the coronavirus in the United States and about 60,000 new cases. About one American now dies every minute from COVID-19.
