COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, has killed the first person in Sub-Saharan Africa, bringing the total number of deaths in the whole of Africa to three.

On Friday, the Sudanese health ministry announced the first death from coronavirus in the country. In Northern Africa, at least two coronavirus patients have died in Egypt.

There are still less than 300 confirmed cases on the continent but the virus is spreading fast and WHO is warning everyone should prepare for maximum impact.
