South African President Cyril Ramaphosa asserted on Monday that dire predictions about Africa’s inability to respond to COVID-19 have not materialized. He described Africa’s management of the pandemic as “a story of defied expectations,” noting that after two years, the continent has recorded 11 million cases of COVID-19, the lowest in the world.
