Embattled Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja on Friday night, days after he embarked on another medical trip to London.

The embattled leader, who seeking re-election amid calls he’s performed poorly and should bow out, left Nigeria on Tuesday.

A spokesman said he was honoring an unscheduled appointment with his doctor.
Why it matters: Nigerians go to the polls early next year to elect a new president. But Mr. Buhari 76 has lost his popularity across the South, the West and East of the country following increased instability, rising unemployment numbers and his failure to exercise leadership when needed.
