Facebook on Saturday suddenly blocked all the Facebook pages that publish content from TODAY NEWS AFRICA, a business-focused newspaper publishing from Washington D.C. No reason was given for the action.

One of the pages The Nigeria Presidency News has close to hundred thousand followers recorded over the past three years.
The sudden closure has led to speculation that the newspaper or its publisher in Washington DC, Simon Ateba, was being targeted by Facebook.
A Facebook message says the problem is being fixed while another claims that the pages might have been misusing Facebook. But there is no evidence to support such claims.
“The shutdown has really affected our ability to reach our audience all over the world, especially in Africa,” said publisher Simon Ateba.
“We call on Facebook to restore our ability to communicate with our audience as soon as possible”.
