Mr. Pade Olapoju published this “open letter” the day President Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the presidential election on 31 March 2015. No one could have captured it better. Read.
VICTORY FOR THE MASSES
History was made in Nigeria today when the candidate of the opposition party defeated a sitting president. It is unprecedented in Nigeria’s history. I salute President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for walking his talk. He said he would pack from Aso Rock to Otuoke if he loses. Already, he has congratulated the Man of the Moment, Gen. Buhari. I also join millions of Nigerians to say congratulations to Gen Muhammadu Buhari on his election.

My advice to Buhari is that he and Osinbajo should hit the ground running. He should forget the euphoria of winning, roll up his sleeves and GET TO WORK! He should chose technocrats as ministers if he really hopes to make a difference and succeed. The CHANGE is not about Buhari or Osibajo. It is just to tell greedy, lazy politicians that power to change lies with the electorate.
Four years is a short time. Tick, tock, tick tock… it will soon be 2019 when voters will decide wether you have performed or the luxury of Aso Rock has mesmerized you to sleep off.
Most of us who voted for Jonathan in 2011 were the ones who voted against him this year. In 2019, we will make another decision wether Buhari has performed or not. For now, we retreat back to the trenches to watch. But we can assure these politicians that if it does not go the way of the masses, we have a choice, we hold the power and we shall show you our THUMBS when the time comes.
Meanwhile, we start a countdown to May 29. We are anxiously waiting to keep a date with destiny. Congratulations, Nigerians!
