James Bond star Sean Connery is dead, his family said on Saturday. He was 90.
He celebrated his 90th birthday last August.
Sir Sean died overnight in his sleep while the Bahamas, his family said.
He has been unwell for some time.
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond. He was the first to bring the role to the big screen and appeared in seven of the spy thrillers.
Sean Connery’s career spanned decades and his myriad of awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.
He also acted in the Hunt for red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and the The Rock.
Many believe he was the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise. He won an Oscar in 1988, when he was named best supporting actor for his role as an Irish cop in the Untouchables.
Sean Connery was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000.
