Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden spoke directly to the American people on Friday night from Delaware, saying that the voters have given him a “clear” mandate to lead.
Biden did not directly claim victory in the presidential election, but said he was confident he would win the race when all votes are counted.
“My fellow Americans, we don’t have a final declaration, a victory yet,” Biden said at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware. “We’re going to win this race with a clear majority of the nation behind us.”

He said he was on track to winning about 300 electoral votes. He needs just 270 electoral votes to be declared President elect.
Biden had hoped he was going to deliver a victory speech but he turned to a message of unity as states took more time to count ballots.
Biden spoke as it was becoming almost inevitable that he would be the next President of the United States, replacing President Donald Trump, the 45th President.
According to official election results, Biden was leading Trump on Friday night by close to 30,000 votes in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania with 20 electoral votes, and that lead was expected to keep expanding by the tens of thousands.
With Biden expected to win around 80 percent of the remaining mail-in ballots, it was becoming inevitable that he would win the state and the presidential election as well.
Biden currently has 264 electoral votes and needs six more electoral votes to win the presidential election.
Biden has multiple paths to the presidency. He’s leading in Georgia, Nevada and Arizona as well.
In Georgia, it’s becoming almost inevitable that Biden would also win the state by a slim margin. President Trump’s allies have signaled that the President would call for recount.
Biden scheduled to speak to the nation on Friday. Hours after, President Trump tweeted that he should not declare himself President.
“Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!,” he said.
“I had such a big lead in all of these states late into election night, only to see the leads miraculously disappear as the days went by. Perhaps these leads will return as our legal proceedings move forward!”
It was not clear what Biden would say to the nation.
