Outrage enveloped the social media in southern Nigeria on Friday and Saturday after some disgruntled Muslim fundamentalists in the northern city of Kano, claiming to be implementing Allah’s instructions to kill, beheaded a Christian woman, allegedly because she spoke evil against their own Prophet, Muhammad.
Bridget Agbaheme, a Christian woman of Igbo extraction in Nigeria’s souheast, was murdered at about 4.30 pm in Kano in a market where she was a trader on the common allegation of blasphemy, several reports said.
Her death came just days after several Christians were murdered by Muslim fundamentalists in the northern Nigerian city of Niger also on the same old allegation of saying evil things against Prophet Muhammad. A church was also burnt to the ground there and several shops belonging to southern Christians were also looted.
Report said after outrage, a suspected killer of Bridget has been arrested by the police in Kano.
In a statement published on its website, change.org, activists condemned the beheading of the Christian trader and demanded that justice be done.
