The governor of Bauchi state in northeast Nigeria, Bala Mohammed, tested positive for coronavirus, on Tuesday, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mukhtar Gidado.
On Monday, the government announced Governor Mohammed had gone into self isolation after meeting with the son of former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar who had tested positive also.

Before going into self isolation, the governor visited the Nigerian center for disease control (NCDC).
The revelation has become vital for contact tracing and has raised concerns that health officials in charge of combating coronavirus in Nigeria may need to go into self isolation.
