Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dissolved the boards of all “Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies,” according to a statement released by his office. The announcement was signed by Willie Bassey, Director of Information, on Monday evening.

However, the dissolution does not impact Boards, Commissions, and Councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution, as amended.

The Chief Executive Officers of the affected entities are instructed to refer matters requiring the attention of their respective boards to the President through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervisory Ministries and Offices. The Permanent Secretaries, in turn, are directed to route such correspondences to the President via the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Effective Friday, June 16, 2023, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies must comply with the new directive. Permanent Secretaries are specifically tasked with informing the Chief Executive Officers of the affected agencies under the supervision of their respective Ministries/Offices to ensure immediate compliance.

The dissolution of these boards comes as President Tinubu exercises his Constitutional Powers in the public interest. New committees will be constituted at a later date.
