I live in the Washington DC area on the Virginia side of the DMV, and something very strange happened today, which has led me to believe we no longer have any privacy with all of our devices connected to the Internet.
The theme of my newspaper, https://www.https://www.todaynewsafrica.com, uploaded an upgrade to YouTube today and I was watching the video on my phone when suddenly I began to hear it play on my landlord’s television screen downstairs while using the landlord’s WIFI.
The landlord was not at home. It was the first time he was not there in the morning and I began to hear my video play on his television set downstairs and I could no longer hear it on my phone.
I thought I was dreaming, so I left my phone in my room, and went to the living room, and confirmed my video was playing on his TV set.
When the landlord came back, I confronted him and he said he did not also understand how his television set was switched on after he switched it off before leaving the house last night! He said I should probably switch off the Bluetooth on my device. I did.
So you have it, our devices are now being monitored by all kinds of agents of darkness. We are three tenants, including a boy and I do not know how much privacy we still have!
Now, I am confused as I do not know how long this has lasted.
