Ronna McDaniel was on Friday re-elected chairperson of the Republican National Committee.
McDaniel is an ally to President and she would be leading the RNC for the next two years.
Her re-election on Friday comes after the Democrats captured the federal government, including the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
“While Ms. McDaniel ran unopposed, the race for co-chair post, the party’s No. 2 position, has become a proxy fight over how closely the national party wants to remain attached to Mr. Trump after he leaves the White House this month,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.
