He has been dropped from the country’s Nations League match against Sweden on Wednesday to protect other players.
He last played in the Nations League draw against France on Sunday, and against Spain in a friendly last week.
The federation said Ronaldo’s test result prompted another round of tests for the rest of the Portuguese squad, but everyone else tested negative.
The team was scheduled to practice on Tuesday ahead of the match against Sweden in Lisbon.
