More than 20,000 people have died from the novel coronavirus in New York City, the city’s Department of Health said on Monday night.

As of Monday night, a total of 20,056 people in the five boroughs had already died from the deadly bug, the Department said.

Officials said statewide, a total of 21,764 people succumbed to the virus as of Monday night.
