STAGGERING: More than 20,000 people have died from coronavirus in New York City

More than 20,000 people have died from the novel coronavirus in New York City, the city’s Department of Health said on Monday night.

As of Monday night, a total of 20,056 people in the five boroughs had already died from the deadly bug, the Department said.

Officials said statewide, a total of 21,764 people succumbed to the virus as of Monday night.

New York City counts both confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths in its tally.
