U.S. President Donald J. Trump on Thursday morning released a statement committing to peaceful transfer of power after Congress affirmed the election victory of Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D. Harris.
Trump’s statement came on the same day he incited his supporters to storm the United States Capitol. At least four people died and many were injured.

More than 50 people were arrested, mainly for violating curfew, not for breaking into the Capitol and unleashing mayhem.
In his statement, Trump said even though he disagreed with the outcome of the election, there will be a peaceful transfer of power.
