“Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed spearheaded significant and commendable reform measures following his selection in April 2018, including releasing thousands of political prisoners, inviting exiled political opposition back to Ethiopia, negotiating a peace agreement with Eritrea, lifting bans on over 200 websites and improving media freedom.

“However, I have become concerned about the recent unrest in the country as well as this administration’s involvement in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations and want to urge those involved to maintain a neutral position that seeks an equitable and fair solution for all parties involved. I also am concerned that cuts in foreign assistance to Ethiopia will have a negative impact on the Ethiopian community.

“This resolution reiterates that the United States House of Representatives stands by the people of Ethiopia and supports their peaceful efforts to advance democratic reforms,” the Congressmember said in a statement received by Today News Africa in Washington DC.

Fofmer PM Abiy Ahmed must resign.

  8. Abiy Ahmed is dictator and a killer. He does not have the leadership qualities to introduce reform relevant to the Ethiopian historical, socio-political and economic contexts. He murdered important public figures of Oromia, Tigrai and Amhara decent, arrested several dozens of renowned politicians from all over Ethiopia, and locked more than 10,000 youth of Oromo origin in the pretext that they are threats to his power. While Ethiopians deserve peace, democracy and economic development, the country is heading backwards in all aspects and my country is in the verge of disintegration due to the dictatorial regime of Abiy Ahmed. He has grabbed power illegally, is is not open to political dialogue with important stakeholders, and is illegitimate to undertake democratic election or lead the country’s democratic transition towards peace, stability and development. So, I urge the international community to facilitate all-inclusive negotiation of stakeholder (if possible) or refrain from supporting the dictator.

  9. Former unelected PM Abiy Ahmed become a number one dictator of the 21st Century who praised and raised statue of Menelik’s II, a slave trader who had more than 70k slaves and who murdered score number of civilians ethnic Ethiopian. Former unelected PM Abiy spent millions of US and Western aid money to raise statue of imperialist Menelik and emperor Haile Sellasie while more than 10millions Ethiopian seeking aid for life. His military killed more than ten thousand civilians in this two years where majority of the victims are Oromo people. Two prominent Oromo singers Dadhi Galan and Hacaalu Hundessa and Oromia police commander Solomon Tadesse were among the extrajudicial killings. This former Pm and his cronies are anti-humanity, anti-democratic governance, anti-multi national federal state. Former PM postponed an election indefinitely to stay on power forever, which is unconstitutional, illegal, and sign of authoritarianism like dictator Esayas Afeworki of Eritrea. He (Abiy Ahmed), jailed key Oromo opposition parties of OLF( Oromo Liberation Front), OFC (Oromo Federalist Congress) such as Jaal Abdi Regassa, Jaal Lemi begna, Coloneel Gemechu Ayana et al. and Jaal Bekele Gerba, Jaal Jawar Mohammed, Jaal Dejene Tafa et al respectively and tens of thousands of Oromo civilians at the midst of coronavirus pandemic without any court order and 99% of those prisoners stayed in prisoners and concentration camps for months without appearing in court. For former PM Abiy coronavirus pandemic is an advantage for him to postpone national election siting the pandemic of coronavirus but at the midst of pandemic the same former PM jailed more than 100k at the midst of pandemic and now the most affect society in Ethiopia with coronavirus are those kept in prison and concentration camps. The aim of the former PM Abiy Ahmed is to bring back imperialist Ethiopia of 19th, an Ethiopia speaks only one language(Amharic), one religion (Orthodox), one culture (Amhara culture), one flag (Menelik’s flag), as he repeatedly spoke in various meetings and media’s in a multi cultural, multi linguistic and beliefs a country having more than 84 nations and ethnic groups. All those former imperialists and emperor rulers were tried to crash the Ethiopian ethnic groups under Abyssinian hegemony of one language, one culture, one flag for more than one and half Centry, but all failed including communist leader Mengistu Haile Mariam. Therefore, we urge the US, European government and international communities to bring criminal Abiy Ahmed and his group who involved in all those gross human right violations to international criminal court for the heinous crime against humanity and held accountable.

    Kind regards,

    Tesfaye

  10. One of Abiy’s promises as he came to power was to stop #commandpost administration across #Oromia, especially parts of western part of the country in Oromia(Wollegas) and southern Oromia of Borana and Guji Zones..
But nothing was done in those zones but deaths and judicial killings. Wollega a d Southern Oromia are under dark command post till today.
I hope that International Community can hear and try to find the necessary changes in Ethiopia

  11. Abiy Ahmed is dictator and a killer. He does not have the leadership qualities to introduce reform relevant to the Ethiopian historical, socio-political and economic contexts. 12. Nearly half of Ethiopian, Oromo people have been subjugated to torturers, kills rapes and confiscated under the PM Abiyi Ahmad. As we speak, over 400 people killed, over 120,000 innocent Oromo activists, educators, Bussiness people, women, men, and Oromo youths have been incarcerated since Oromo activist-singer Haacaaluu Hundeessa was assassinated. Jawar Mohammed, the engine of the changes, who represents 50, 000,000 voiceless Oromos have been jailed without any wrongdoing. My question to you Sir/Madam, what kind of democracy or election You do you expect from Ethiopia? Why you concern supporting Ethiopia when you can see Practical human genocide has been taking place? Please read human right watch report.
In Ethiopia, there is no democracy. Therefore, there is no peace, security, and stability anytime soon.
    Thank you

  13. Abiy Ahmad is a dictator who’s killing and arresting people in Ethiopia. What I don’t understand abut human Right witch why they haven’t step in in Ethiopia until now

  14. The international Community should work more to save people of the country from the coming serious danger. Hundreds of peoples are dying on day basis in Ethiopia. Most of political figures are in jail without conducting or abating any kind of crime. In Ethiopia thare is no legitimate government. There is only group of Mafias .

  15. እኛ የማንንም ከንፈር መምጠጥ ዋጋ አንሰጠውም። ህዝቦቿ እና ያለት ሃብት ከበቂዋ በለይ ነው። እናንተ ብቻ እጃችሁን ሰብስቡ።

  16. Good news, may Good save our people from political crisis and bring us true democracy, peace, justice and equality for Ethiopian nations and nationalities irrespective of ethnicity, religion, language and humanity in general!
