U.S. coronavirus cases top 10 million

U.S. coronavirus cases topped 10 million on Monday out of 50 million infections globally.

The United States reported nearly 106,000 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

At least 457 new deaths were recorded in the United States after five days above 1,000 fatalities. The number of hospitalizations also exceeded 56,000.

A vaccine developed by Pfizer and partner BioNTech has proved 90 percent effective at protecting people from the coronavirus.
