The U.S. Department of Defense officially announced on Saturday the deaths of 13 service members who were supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.
“They died Aug. 26, 2021, as the result of an enemy attack while supporting non-combatant evacuation operations in Kabul, Afghanistan,” the DOD said in a statement, adding that the incident is under investigation.
The terror attack was claimed by ISIS-k, a terror group in Afghanistan.
Pentagon identified the deceased as “marine corps, navy and army casualties.”

Sgt. Nicole L. Gee was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Sgt. Johanny Rosariopichardo was assigned to 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Naval Support Activity Bahrain.
