U.S. President Donald John Trump lost the November 3 presidential election to President-elect Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. by almost 6 million votes. Biden received 306 electoral votes to beat Trump who got 232.
In 2016, Trump received exactly 306 electoral votes to beat Hillary Clinton who got 232. Although Clinton defeated Trump in the popular vote by almost 3 million, Trump called his victory a landslide.
However, now that Mr. Trump, 74, and a grandfather, has lost, he is trying to overturn the election results by applying the same ignoble tactics dictators use from around the world.
He is refusing to concede defeat and is promoting and spreading baseless fraud allegations.
He is saying the presidential election was massively rigged but he is unable to provide any evidence in court. So far, at least 28 of his lawsuits have either been thrown out by judges or dropped because they lacked any evidence.
His lawyers are also arguing in the media that the presidential election was fraudulent, but in court, they are denying that the election was fraudulent.
Virtually all the people who oversaw the election, Democrats and Republicans, have said it was credible, free, fair and accurate. Even officials at the homeland security who oversaw the election security have released a statement saying the election was accurate and “most secure in American history.”
In Georgia for instance, where there is a Republican governor and a Republican secretary of state who oversees the electoral process, both concluded that the election went on smoothly and certified Biden’s win on Friday.
Even after a full hand recount of the 5 million votes cast there, and the certification of election results, Mr. Trump is still launching attacks after attacks on the election results in Georgia.
He is trying to undermine the results, indicating that unless he wins, the elections are rigged.
Unable to win at the ballots and seeing that cases are being thrown out by the judges and the recounts are not changing the outcome, Mr. Trump is now trying to rig.
He invited Republicans from Michigan at the White House on Friday. On Saturday, the GOP said the certification of results there should be delayed by two weeks. This, even after the two Republicans who met with Trump said he did not provide any evidence that the elections were rigged.
Mr. Trump will likely fail in his brazen attempt to overturn the will of the American people, but for those watching from around the world, the United States is almost unrecognizable.
The United States under Trump is now like a banana republic with no democracy, no example, no laws, no integrity, and no moral high.
As the Republicans enable Mr. Trump to destroy democracy in the United States, one day they would realize it is too late. When they win, what they are trying to do now may happen to them as well.
