U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has called Vice President-elect Kamala D. Harris to congratulate her on her election victory, the Associated Press first reported on Friday quoting sources.

The Vice President was said to have offered assistance to the Vice President-elect.

The congratulatory message comes more than two months since President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Harris defeated President Donald J. Trump and Pence.

President Trump has refused to concede defeat even though he lost by a wide margin.

White House sources have said Trump plans to leave Washington DC for Florida on Wednesday morning before the inauguration of Biden and Harris.
