World Bank Group President David Malpass traveling to Sudan

David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group (WBG) is traveling to Sudan, Jordan, Israel, and the West Bank and Gaza.

On Monday, the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power met with him to see how “the agency and the World Bank can continue to work together to advance solutions to the development challenges in these regions,” USAID spokesperson Rebecca Chalif said in a brief statement.

According to Chalif, “Administrator Power advocated for continued support for the democratic transition in Sudan, and the two discussed how to work together along with other partners to deliver critical assistance to Afghans, including health care services.”

She also discussed “the recent White House COVID-19 Summit, encouraging the World Bank to move resources to countries in need with urgency, speed, and flexibility.”
